ALTe Powertrain Technologies Names Darren Post COO: Auburn Hills-based ALTe Powertrain Technologies has announced  the appointment of Darren C. Post to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer effective immediately. This company said the new role is a promotion for Post resulting from his exceptional performance in his initial role as executive vice president of product development at ALTe. The role of COO was created to position the company for the forthcoming rapid growth stage as ALTe is preparing for mass production of its plug in electric hybrid powertrain systems at factories located in China and the United States. Post previously held a variety of manufacturing executive positions at General Motors with full responsibility for machining and assembly of high volume V8 internal combustion engines, transmissions and power steering systems requiring precision, quality, throughput and management of up to 960 employees.  Subsequent to his factory experiences, Post was selected to lead product development efforts culminating in top vehicle leadership roles responsible for the launch of several successful complete vehicles while achieving challenging cost, budget and timing requirements.  Among them were the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Ion, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Impala and the Opel Zafira.  Darren's product experience also reaches into alternative fuel usage as he managed the implementation of CNG versions of several vehicles where he learned firsthand the benefits and challenges of that fuel selection. Post holds degrees from the General Motors Institute as well as Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he completed a Master's degree at the Sloan School of Management as a GM Fellow. ALTe is a leading developer of plug in electric and hybrid powertrain systems used to propel automobiles launching initially in the commercial vehicle segment. The system is engineered for use in both new vehicle applications as well as being able to be retrofit into existing vehicles resulting in dramatic increases in fuel economy and lower emissions. Designed to replace the traditional internal combustion engine powertrain, the Company's patented technology improves fuel economy from 80 percent to 200 percent. Based in Auburn Hills, the company is headquartered in a 185,000 square foot building where it engineers and assembles its powertrains that will be installed in customer vehicles across North America.
