Police Say Michigan Mom Let 9-Year-Old Son Drive Car

GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan woman is charged with allowing her 9-year-old son to drive around their neighborhood in Livingston County.

Police responded to a manufactured home community in Green Oak Township when residents said a young driver looked too young to be behind the wheel of a 2002 Mercury Sable. Police say the boy even had a 5-year-old passenger Saturday, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit.

Thirty-three-year-old Leah Jaglowski was charged Monday with allowing an unlicensed minor to drive and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She has no phone number listed and couldn't be reached for comment Wednesday.

Police say the 9-year-old told a witness that he was taking out garbage and his mother knew what he was doing.
