Lidstrom, Hanson Set For Mich. Sports Hall Of Fame

DETROIT (AP) — Nicklas Lidstrom and Jason Hanson have earned a place among the state's greats in sports.

The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame announced Monday that Lidstrom and Hanson were among the eight people selected for induction in February.

Lidstrom retired in 2012 after a 20-season career with the Detroit Red Wings. Hanson retired earlier this year after becoming the first to play for same NFL team for 21 seasons, all with the Detroit Lions.

The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame's 58th class also includes: John Smoltz, Alexi Lalas, Percy Snow, Dorne Dibble, Tom Mach and Jim Brandstatter. Chairman Scott Lesher says the class is a diverse group from a variety of sports and eras, adding the individuals have achieved excellence and represented the state at the highest levels.
