Palmer Woods Historic Homes Tour Gives Glimpse Into Past

DETROIT (WWJ) - A night of splendor! That's what you will discover at the Palmer Woods Historic Holiday Home Tour on December 7th -- showing homes created by some of the most notable architects of the 20th century.

"There are homes that were designed by people like Frank Lloyd Wright, C.Howard Crane who designed Orchestra Hall, Clarence Day ...," said Barbara Barefield of the Palmer Woods Association -- who says the soiree is not only filled with great craftsmanship, but fun ...

"Very magical, it's like a traveling party; where you start in one home and go home to home. One of the homes will have most of the food, but there will be things to sample at every home." said Barefield.

It is a showcase of some of the most famed architects of the 20th century such as Albert Kahn, and Lewis C. Miller.

Designer Jeff Fontana says they have tried to match the personality of the homes through their design.

"We've taken different rooms and we've given them our little bit of a twist as to what we think might be appropriate for that home in this year and society," said Fontana.

The evening will also include a wine tasting and a guided bus tour of the mansions.

A portion of the ticket proceeds go to local charities. For more information -HERE or by calling (313) 891-2514.
