Rally In Warren Demonstrates Support For People In Ukraine

WARREN (WWJ) - Members of metro Detroit's Ukrainian community demonstrated in Warren Sunday in support of people in the Ukraine, who rallied on Independence Square in a show of anger over the president's refusal to sign an agreement with the European Union.

"We basically want the world to see we care about them and that we support them and we want support .. from the world regarding this issue," said Vitaliy Perets.

Perets, 22, says he has family still living in the Ukraine.

"We worry about them and basically that is supporting your brothers and sisters over there," he said.

Riot police in Ukraine's capital have used tear gas and flash grenades to push back protesters who tried to storm the presidential administration building.

Dozens of people with what appeared to be head injuries were taken away by ambulance.
