'Free Your Mind' Billboard Pops-Up In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Chile, Mexico, Australia, United Kingdom, the California Desert and Detroit ... what's the common thread? A rare billboard that encourages  'free your mind.'

It's a coup for those in the know ... a handful of these billboards around the country allow fans of the band Cut Copy to listen to a new single.

While this may not be at the artistic level for publicity or send folks pounding the pavement to search for the billboards like tourists and New Yorkers searched for anonymous street artist Bansky's recent endeavor in and around the Manhattan boroughs, it does give a significant nod to the electronic music home of the city of Detroit.

The band Cut Copy have six billboards scattered around the world and Detroit is one of the areas that fans can access a new release from the band as they open an app while at the billboard location.

The location of Detroit's 'free your mind' billboard is in the area of the old Tiger Stadium - off Michigan Ave near Trumbull St. a link on Pitchfork shows the Google coordinates for the six locations.
