Springsteen's High Hopes Does Not Reach Expectations

As a Bruce Springsteen fan I was looking forward to his 18th studio album with anticipation. His previous album,2012's "Wrecking Ball" was one that I thoroughly enjoyed. However "High Hopes" which comes out on Tuesday January 14th is not one of his best.

The album consists of several covers and other songs that he has previously performed live. The title track is a song originally done by the obscure LA band The Havilinas. My favorite song on the album,"Just Like Fire Would" is a cover of a popular song by the Australian band The Saints.

Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello is featured in several songs including the first electric studio version of Springsteen's The Ghost Of Tom Joad, which is awesome.

Harry's Place sounds very much like the theme song from The Soprano's and is probably the best of the new material.

All in all its a decent album, but does not come close to being great. You can hear the album in its entirety and see for yourself right here for free.
