Icy Conditions Cause Several Accidents During Morning Drive

Southfield (WWJ)- Freezing rain and slick roads may be factors in a  fatal accident Monday morning.

Michigan State Police say one person was killed in a crash on I-75 near Sashabaw Road in northern Oakland County.  A second fatal crash was reported on eastbound I-94 near Masonic.  WWJ's Ron Dewey said at least two pickup trucks were involved in the Macomb County crash.

Specific details about the wrecks weren't immediately available, however roads were icy Monday morning at the time the accidents were reported.

State Police troopers from the Metro Post were called to multiple crashes on Metro Detroit freeways Monday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 6:45 a.m. saying patchy freezing drizzle would impact the morning commute.  The message said light icing may lead to slippery roads, particularly on bridges, exit ramps and overpasses.
