CHINA TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A murder investigation is underway in St. Clair County after what may be human body parts were found Thursday afternoon, about 50 miles northeast of Detroit.

Donnellon told WWJ's Beth Fisher they'll be waiting on the Michigan State Police Crime Lab to determine without a doubt that it is human remains; but they're treating it as a homicide investigation until they know otherwise.

"We're investigating what we have and waiting for the crime lab to respond out to our location," he said, Thursday evening at the scene.

At least two local roads were closed as police searched the area.

Donnellon said investigators are now looking to speak with a middle-aged white woman driving a late 1990s gray or tan sport utility vehicle -- perhaps a GMC Jimmy or Chevy Blazer.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at 810-987-1744 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
