Mother Awaits Arraignment On Charges Of Murder, Dismemberment Of Son

MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - St. Clair Shores woman currently sits behind bars, awaiting a Monday afternoon arraignment.

The 59-year-old woman is accused of killing her son and dumping her 32-year-old child's dismembered remains in garbage bags.

St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon says he is thankful for the countless tips -- and the one about a heavy set middle-aged woman driving a gray colored Chevy Blazer-- that really helped them crack the case:

"Detectives were able to go to a gas station and actually know what to look for in that gas station, because you can imagine how many hundreds of people are coming and going out of a gas station right at I-94 or interchange," said Donnellon. "And if you don't have a tip like that you don't know who to look for, and you when you have those tips and then you grab your video you start matching it up and it can come together."

Sheriff Donnellon says that one tip was the straw that "broke the camel's back."

"She is awaiting arraignment ... it should be an open murder charge and at that time after the arraignment there will be the full disclosure of the suspect," he said.

He noted that detective work has changed drastically with advances in new technology.

The sheriff says it was extremely helpful getting the suspect's description out on social media channels.
