Oakland University Student Dies After Snowmobile Accident

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ/AP) - Officials say a freshman at Oakland University has died following a weekend snowmobiling accident.

The school said 19-year-old Eric Thomas Pauli died following the accident, which happened Sunday night.

Pauli came to Oakland University from Dakota High School in Macomb County, and he was a member of the Golden Grizzlies Band. Band director Kenneth Kroesche said Pauli's "infectious enthusiasm and fun-loving personality were often displayed during performances."

"Eric often told others how much he loved Oakland and loved being a part of the Golden Grizzlies Band. He will surely be missed. On behalf of the band, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to Eric's family," Kroesche said.

Details about the accident weren't immediately released. A funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Macomb Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations being made to the Dakota High School Band Scholarship or Making Miracles Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 926, Hazel Park, MI, 48030.
