Police Hunting Female Attempted Robber Wielding Samurai Sword

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Police say a woman armed with a samurai sword slashed a man during a robbery attempt on Detroit's west side.

The attack happened around 6:40 p.m. Thursday in the area of Joy Road and Stout Street, just west of Evergreen Avenue. The victim told police he was walking down the street when a man and woman approached and tried to rob him.

At some point, the woman pulled out a sword and sliced a 5-inch gash into the side of the victim's head. The would-be robbers then fled the scene without stealing anything.

The victim called 911 and was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

Police say the suspect remains on the loose and should be considered armed and dangerous. The suspect is described as white female, about 5'7" tall and 150 pounds. She was wearing a blue hat, blue jeans and white gym shoes.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact police at 313-596-2300.
