Allen Park Residents Invited To Share Ideas On Ways To Shape The City

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - As the city of Allen Park continues to be guided by an emergency manager, officials are asking for community input on ways to improve the city.

Residents are invited to a meeting, hosted by the hosted the Allen Park Advisory Committee, on Saturday, March 1, to share and discuss their ideas.

Emergency Manager Joyce Parker said she's open to hearing residents' opinions on ways to shape the city.

"What we would like to know is what they believe are the strengths related to the community as well as the direction the city should take in terms of moving forward, in order to identify Allen Park for the future, and what would be included in the process," Parker told WWJ Newsradio 950's Russ McNamara.

"I think it would be very helpful to get a sense of what the community thinks, again, are the priorities," she added. "So, for example, as we talk about the downtown. You know, whether they believe that they way the downtown is structured right now, how things operate, is that adequate or not. Do we need other types of businesses?"

The session, titled "Allen Park: Our Vision, Our Future," will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Allen Park High School, 18401 Champaign.

Participants are asked to sign up by emailing APVision_future@cityofallenpark.org or by calling  313-928-1469.
