Michigan Chronicle's 'Pancakes and Politics' Is Back!

As the city that put the world on wheels regroups to find a new future -- one lined with jobs and new opportunities -- what's ahead?

Five well-known leaders will take to the Michigan Chronicle's "Pancakes and Politics" storied stage to talk about the opportunities and challenges of Detroit as the ninth season of the influential forum kicks off Thursday at the Detroit Athletic Club.

Speakers include Michael Finney, president and CEO, Michigan Economic Development Corporation; David Egner, president and CEO, Hudson Webber Foundation, George Jackson, president and CEO, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation; Audra Rush, founder and chairperson, The Rush Group; and Gregory Jackson, president and CEO, Jackson Automotive Management.

With Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr and new Mayor Mike Duggan in charge of Detroit in a historic and unique arrangement, no doubt the city will have its share of air time during the three other "Pancakes and Politics" forums. They will be held Monday, April 7, Thursday, May 15 and Thursday, June 19 at the Detroit Athletic Club.

Gov Rick Snyder, who has taken to the "Pancakes and Politics" stage each year since taking office, will again be the guest speaker at the second "Pancakes" on April 7.

The four-part Pancakes & Politics series is presented by the Michigan Chronicle and Real Times Media.

The event is moderated by Carol Cain, Emmy winning senior producer and host of CBS 62's "Michigan Matters."

Michigan Chronicle Senior Editor Bankole Thompson will pose questions along with Cain. And the "Pancakes" audience will have a chance to ask a few questions too.

CBS 62 has been a media partner of The Michigan Chronicle's "Pancakes and Politics" since the series was launched. So too WWJ Newsradio 950, its sister CBS radio station, is a media partner as well.

"The Michigan Chronicle hit a homerun when they came up with "Pancakes and Politics," said Tom Canedo, vice president and general manager of CBS 62/CW50. "We are proud to be involved as a partner with them in these important sessions. We are also happy to bring them home for our viewers as they are then aired as "Michigan Matters."

You can watch highlights of the Michigan Chronicle's "Pancakes and Politics" on Sunday, March 16 at 11:30 a.m. as a special "Michigan Matters" on CBS 62!
