WATERFORD (WWJ) – Officials say everyone was able to escape a fire that quickly spread through an Oakland County apartment building.

The fire broke out Friday morning on Williams Lake Road near Airport Road, just west of Telegraph Road in Waterford.

“Firefighters are battling a blaze, although it looks like they’re just about done with it. It’s an older residence turned into apartment buildings, causing the complete shut down of Williams Lake Road just west of Airport Road. Police routing traffic through the subdivision,” he said.

Officials say everyone inside the building was able to make it out safely, without injury.

A cause of the fire remains under investigation.
