Man, 15-Year-Old Son, Arrested In Detroit Liquor Store Beating Death

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Police Chief James Craig calls it a disturbing case.

A father and his teenage son are being held in the beating death of a man inside a northwest Detroit liquor store Sunday evening.

Craig said the victim is, believed to be 60 to 65 years old, was attacked Sunday evening during "some sort of dispute."

Police said it happened at around 7 p.m. The victim, who had not been identified as of Monday morning, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A 39-year-old suspect was arrested after returning to Happy's Food Liquor Store, on West 8 Mile Road near Hubble; and his 15-year-old son was arrested later that night.

Both were behind bars on Monday. Their names weren't immediately released.

A third possible suspect was arrested but was later released.

In a separate case, Detroit police are investigating the death of another unidentified man who was chased into a market on Second Avenue, north of downtown, by five men and beaten Saturday night.

One attacker struck the victim in the head with a metal dolly, police said.

A 33-year-old man was arrested in that case, and police say they're seeking three other suspects.  Suspect number two is a black male who was wearing a long black coat, black shirt and black pants. Suspect three is a black male, who was wearing a Pistons hat and jacket. Suspect four is a  black male with braided or twisted hair. He wearing a black hat, black jacket and black pants.
