Man Beaten In Detroit Store Dies

Detroit (WWJ)-  Police say three suspects are in custody following the beating death of a man inside a Detroit store.

The man was attacked about 7 p.m.  Sunday at the Happy Liquor Store on Eight Mile near Hubbell in northwest Detroit, according to police.  Police say the victim, who walked with a cane and was in his 60's, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police Sgt. Michael Woody tells WWJ-AM that the suspects are 15, 16 and 39 years old.

"It's unclear what the motive for the beating was," police Sgt. Michael Woody said late Sunday.  "We are conducting an investigation trying to determine exactly what the relationship was or what had sparked this incident."

Names of those involved weren't immediately released.

Investigators are expected to present their case to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office Monday or Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the beating should contact Detroit Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
