Celebrate The Healing Power Of Music This Sunday

WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - It can make us feel like dancing, it can move us to tears; and in many times of life, music can help us heal.

Volunteers serenade the lunch crowd at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield on a regular basis.

Hospital Chaplain Jim Kraft has observed the healing ability music has not on only patients, but their families as well — from the moment life begins, until draws to a close.

"The auditory skills are the last sense to leave a patient, so we will play their music,"  Kraft told WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee, "and I've literally had little old ladies tap their toes to big band music until they took their last breath."

The public is invited to celebrate the healing power of music this Sunday at 2 p.m. at Henry Ford West Bloomfield, with nationally renowned jazz musician Alexander Zonjic and Friends in "Zonjic Meets Motown".

The free concert is part of the hospital's Healing Arts Programs.
