Coast Guard Rescues Man Adrift On Ice In The Nick Of Time

MONROE (WWJ) - The U.S. Coast Guard says one of its helicopter crews rescued a man who drove his all-terrain vehicle onto Lake Erie ice, which then broke off from shore.

The Coast Guard says it got word early Saturday of a man adrift on an ice floe off Sterling State Park in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township.

The Coast Guard says its helicopter took off from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit. It says the crew spotted the man and hoisted him aboard the helicopter.

Plans are underway to salvage the man's ATV.
