AT&T Touts Network Spend In Ann Arbor, Flint, GR, Lansing, Adds 4G In TC

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Two days after touting a $625 million investment over the past three years in its networks in metro Detroit, AT&T released investment figures for other Michigan metropolitan areas.

AT&T also announced the availability of its 4G LTE high-speed data service in the Traverse City area.

The figures for investment in other Michigan metropolitan areas were as follows:

* Ann Arbor area, $70 million, including access to U-verse internet and video services, and adding fiber optic connections to 303 business locations and 18 multi-tenant business buildings and business parks.

* Flint area, $30 million, including 13 network upgrades, including new cell sites, additions of wireless and wired network capacity, and new broadband network connections, as well as providing access to U-verse internet and video services to 13,000 new customer locations and adding fiber optic connections to business locations.

* Grand Rapids area, $200 million, including 56 network upgrades, including new cell sites, addition of wireless and wired network capacity, and new broadband network connections. AT&T also expanded the reach of its network, providing access to U-verse internet and video services to 16,000 new customer locations and delivering powerful fiber-optic connections to 560 business locations at 31 multi-tenant business buildings and business parks.

* Lansing-East Lansing area, $60 million, including 25 network upgrades, including new cell sites, the addition of wireless and wired network capacity, and new broadband network connections. AT&T also provided access to U-verse internet and video services to 16,000 new customer locations and delivering new fiber optic connections to 155 business locations and 13 multi-tenant business buildings and business parks.

The upgrades were designed to enhance speed, reliability, coverage and performance for residents and business customers. AT&T U-verse is delivered over AT&T's advanced IP network and includes AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet, AT&T U-verse TV, and AT&T U-verse Voice. U-verse includes digital video recorder service, apps for entertainment on the go and other features.

Meanwhile, AT&T has turned on its 4G LTE network in Traverse City. AT&T said areas most affected by the increased speed include parts of Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties, including along US-31, M-22, M-37 and County Road 611.
