ROMEO (WWJ) – An elderly Macomb County woman missing since earlier this week has been found dead.

Michigan State Police say the body of 83-year-old Anne Burns was discovered around 3:20 p.m. Thursday in Ray Township just days after the Romeo woman’s family reported her missing.

According to police, a citizen who was walking down Teller Road near 28 Mile Road found Burns’ body next to her SUV, which was stuck in a ditch.

Police say there are no signs of foul play. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine an exact cause of death.

Burns had been reported missing on Tuesday after she failed to show up for an afternoon hair appointment. As police started to trace Burns’ last known whereabouts, they found she also missed a tax appointment in Lenox Township that was scheduled for noon Monday.
