WARREN (WWJ/AP) – Police say a human skull found in a dumpster outside a metro Detroit apartment complex was accidentally discarded.

Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green said a doctor legally had the skull for her profession. He said the skull was among items to be moved that were improperly disposed of by a third party.
Green told the Detroit Free Press the matter isn’t criminal or an issue of foul play.

A female tenant at the Warren Manor Apartment complex on Dequindre near 8 Mile Road was searching for returnable cans when she made the grisly discovery last Wednesday.

Police also found a doctor’s ID, a lab coat with a health care organization’s patch and health facility paperwork along with the skull, which was partially inside a canvas bag. Green said the doctor’s name on the ID was different from the doctor who was legally allowed to have the remains.
