Body Pulled From Burning Car On Telegraph Road

MONROE TWP. (WWJ) - Police say a man has died after being pulled from a burning car along a popular Monroe County roadway.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office received a call around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday about a car on fire on Telegraph Road just south of Albain Road in Monroe Township.

The caller told police they approached the burning vehicle, which was parked along the east side of the road, and realized a man was still in the driver's seat.

Police say the witnesses pulled the man from the car, but he was unresponsive. EMS crews responded and attempted to revive the man, but efforts were unsuccessful and he was declared dead at the scene.

The man was identified as 23-year-old Tyler Cook, a Wayne County resident.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused Cook's car to catch fire. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine an exact cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the fire or who has any information is urged to contact police at 734-240-7530.
