Neighbor Dispute Leads To Double Shooting In Inkster

INKSTER (WWJ) - Police say two people were injured when shots rang out during an apparent argument between neighbors.

The incident happened around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Glenwood and Division streets, near Middlebelt Road just north of Michigan Avenue.

Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said two men were shot. Both of their injuries are non life-threatening, although their current conditions are unknown. Shaw said one of the victims is not cooperating with investigators.

Police said it appears the shooting happened during an argument, although other circumstances weren't immediately clear.

Nearby resident Ryan Shaw said hearing gunfire in the area is fairly common, but after the latest shooting in his neighborhood, "maybe it's time to move out of here."

"You're supposed to love your neighbor so, I mean, I don't know what it was, maybe it was loud music or what, but it's sad," he said. "At the same time, it don't make me nervous, you know what I'm saying? I just try to take it day by day, live my life, try not to get caught in the crossfire of things."

An investigation is ongoing.
