Detroit Gay Pride Festival Set For This Weekend

DETROIT (AP) - An annual gay pride festival will take place this weekend in Detroit.

The Motor City Pride Festival and Parade is celebrating its 43rd anniversary. It's set for Saturday and Sunday at Hart Plaza downtown.

Andy Bell of Erasure and "Glee" actor Alex Newell are among the musical acts that will perform at the event.

Motor City Pride bills itself as Michigan's largest gathering that celebrates the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. It attracts thousands of visitors to Detroit each year and also features DJs, vendors and food.

The parade is scheduled for Sunday.

Daily admission is $5 for those 21 and over. There's no charge for those under 21.
