Quicken Loans Repeats As "Best Place To Work In IT"

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBSDetroit.com) - Detroit-based Quicken Loans beat out firms in technology hot spots including Silicon Valley and Austin to take the top spot in Computerworld magazine's 2014 'Best Places to Work In IT' list in the large company category.

This is the second year in-a-row that Quicken has taken the top spot, and fifth time in 10 years, the company received the honor in the employee survey.

"We take great pride in hiring and empowering the best technology talent in the country. Our team members know we want them to experiment, challenge the status quo and bring us their very best every day," said Quicken Loans Chief Executive Officer Bill Emerson in a release. "When people are free to create and innovate their impact is immeasurable. Our technology team is a very big part of Quicken Loans' ongoing success, and we continue to look for them to move us forward."

The '100 Best Places to Work in IT' list is determined through an employee survey - which focuses on the company's core culture, including benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention - and an employer questionnaire to determine the company's goals and opinions on its culture, according to Quicken.

The 1,100 member technology team at Quicken Loans receives 200 hours of annual technical training, including 40 hours of external training, and a "broad base of hard and soft skills" according to Quicken.
