DETROIT (WWJ) – The Detroit Medical Center is preparing to unveil a brand-new specialty hospital.

“We’re able to have a cutting edge, beautiful facility that’s gonna feature new processes, right here in the heart of Detroit,” said DMC Heart Hospital president, Dr. Theodore Schreiber, describing what he’s most proud of with regard to the new hospital, officially opening its doors Aug. 5.

Schreiber says the six story 215,000-foot hospital, dedicated solely to cardiac care, is a big investment in an area where the risk for heart disease is higher than average.

“We’re gonna put in one place the most effiicient, highest technology as well as the most compassionate facility for Detroiters,” Schreiber said.

There’s a special grand opening celebration for the new DMC Heart Hospital Tuesday July, 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
