Detroit Metro Airport Ranked Highest In U.S. In Wi-Fi Quality

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Metropolitan Airport was recently ranked as having the fastest airport Wi-Fi connectivity in the country by mobile network management company, wefi.

The average Wi-Fi speed over a period of 45 days was collected at airports, hotels and beaches, attempting to determine the best Wi-Fi connectivity during the summer travel season.

Metro Airport posted speeds of 4.63 mbps for its internet Wi-Fi, just beating out Denver International Airport, which scored 4.33 mbps.

"With the demand for wireless connectivity stronger than ever, enhancing our airport's public Wi-Fi service has been a priority for our airport management team," Airport Authority CEO Tom Naughton said. "Customers are enjoying the increased network speeds, and we view this as one more way we can help create a seamless and enjoyable airport experience for our travelers."

Detroit Metropolitan Airport embarked on a significant upgrade to its wireless network last fall, including expanded, complimentary and high-speed Wi-Fi services.
