ROMULUS (WWJ) – A 35-year-old Grosse Ile woman is in critical but stable condition after she was struck by a vehicle while rollerblading down the road.

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Middlebelt Road and Leroy Street, just north of Pennsylvania Road in Romulus.

According to police, the woman was rollerblading down southbound Middlebelt Road when she was hit by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.

The woman, whose name was not released, was rushed to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was not injured.

Police say alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
