Actor Robin Williams, 63, Found Dead By Apparent Suicide

MARIN COUNTY, CA (WWJ) -- According to a press release, actor Robin Williams was found dead in his home on Monday afternoon.

Officials received an emergency call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA. Authorities were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at around noon.

The man, pronounced dead at 12:02 p.m., had been identified as Williams, a resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA.

At this time, the Sheriff's Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made.

Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicated that Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he lived with his wife, at around 10 p.m. on August 10.

An investigation into the cause, manner and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Divisions of the Sheriff's Office. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted.

Williams spent part of his childhood in Bloomfield Hills and attended Detroit Country Day High School.
