SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - AT&T is expanding its television and broadband U-verse service in Metro Detroit.
Nearly 4,700 additional customers were added in June as more than 122,000 customers locations were added across AT&T's wireline territory in the same month.
The expansion is part of Project Velocity IP (VIP), AT&T's three-year investment plan to expand and enhance its wireless and wireline Internet Protocol (IP) broadband networks, according to company officials.
"U-verse makes TV, Internet and voice services work together in harmony," said Brian Ducharme, vice president and general manager of AT&T Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. "Through efforts like VIP, we're working to ensure that Detroit residents and businesses have the services needed for a high quality of life at home and a competitive edge at work."
One of the largest areas of growth for AT&T was in Detroit, which added about 1,100 customers locations. Other areas of growth included Marysville, Fort Gratiot Township, Holly and Inkster.
