Helio Castroneves Hangs Up 'Dancing Shoes,' Focuses On Indy Championship (VIDEO)

By Edward Cardenas

ROYAL OAK (CBS Detroit) - Helio Castroneves has won the Detroit Grand Prix, is an Indianapolis 500 champion and has hoisted the Mirror Ball trophy for "Dancing With The Stars," but he has never been to the Woodward Dream Cruise.

That changed Thursday when he visited the WWJ Newsradio 950 Woodward Dream Cruise Business Breakfast at Duggan's Irish Pub in Royal Oak.

"It's an amazing experience," said Castroneves. "I can see the community embracing the tradition."

The racing champion will not be at Saturday's cruise because he will be in Milwaukee qualifying for the ABC Supply Wisconsin 250.

If he were to take part in the cruise, which he hopes to do one day, Castroneves said he would drive Corvette Stingray.

"Hopefully we are going to have many more times to come back and drive one of those classics," Castroneves said.

And of all the trophies he has on his mantel, which was toughest?

"Winning Indy and Detroit was a piece of cake. The toughest one was 'Dancing With The Stars.' It was totally out of my comfort zone," said Castroneves, who is now eyeing a IndyCar championship for his team owner. "The dancing shoes are hanging up. Hopefully we can get this championship for Roger Penske."
