Bicyclist Struck, Killed By Train In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a man has died after being hit by a train on Detroit's west side.

The accident happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Tireman Avenue and Greenfield Road.

Police said the man was riding his bike east on Tireman and attempted to cross in front of the train when he was struck. Other circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately clear.

The man, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hours after the crash, the intersection remains closed to traffic as police continue their investigation.
