Red Bull Battle Grounds Tournament Invades Midtown For 'StarCraft' Competition

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Players from all over the world are in town for the Red Bull Battle Grounds 2014 StarCraft II "e-Sports" tournament through Sunday at the Garden Theatre in Detroit.

128 gamers will battle each other this weekend for a chance to win $8,000, while spectators also file in to witness the action, including 17-year-old James Donhiser.

"I just play for fun and I really enjoy the professional gaming scene so I came to watch," Donhiser said. "It should be a good time."

Donhizer, from Rapid City, Iowa, is on the lower end of the age spectrum among the early crowd. His mom, Kathy -- dubbed a "super-mom" for bringing her son -- said she is also looking forward to it.

"It's going to be fun and it's going to be fun watching him have fun," Donhiser said.
