Rap Mogul 'Suge' Knight Shot At Chris Brown Party

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight is believed to have been one of three people who were wounded in a shooting at a nightclub in West Hollywood, according to multiple published reports.

MTV.com says the former Death Row Records CEO was reportedly shot multiple times but was able to walk out of the exclusive 1OAK nightclub, where the shooting occurred, on his own.

Citing family sources, TMZ.com reports that Knight underwent surgery at an area hospital after sustaining six gunshot wounds. Police sources have not independently confirmed to CBSLA.com on the record that Suge Knight was wounded in the shooting.

Two other people, described as a 19-year-old woman and 32-year-old man, were also wounded. All were taken a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds.

The incident happened at an unofficial pre-VMA party hosted by singer Chris Brown on West Sunset Boulevard around 1:30 a.m., according to MTV.com.

Witnesses say they saw the 49-year-old Suge Knight stumbling out of the club after he was shot.

Those on scene told CBS2's Joy Benedict that the driver of a Cadillac Escalade, which was parked outside the establishment, assisted the 19-year-old woman who was shot. She collapsed as she came running out to escape the gunfire.

Video captured from inside the club and posted on Instagram depicted Brown prior to the shooting addressing fans on stage. When gunfire erupted, hundreds could be seen scattering to escape. Several people reportedly sustained minor injuries from pushing, shoving, and broken glass. They did not require hospital transport.

"People were pushing. Most people on the floor. Running. Falling on glass. The only person that was standing was Chris Brown," said Hayley Belle, a nightclub patron.
