Eminem And Rihanna Cap Off Detroit Weekend With Ice Bucket Challenge

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Detroit was hopping this weekend with throngs of people everywhere, gathering at Ford Field and Comerica Park for the monster tour of Rihanna and Eminem, and a pre-season Detroit Lions game.

And during all the festivities, something else happened -- both superstars chose Detroit to carry out the ubiquitous Ice Bucket Challenge.

Eminem had been challenged by mentor Dr. Dre -- and it seemed initially like something he was trying to shrug off.

Rolling Stone reported: "The pair were walking off the stage at the end of their final show at Detroit's Comerica Park when Eminem's hype man Denaun Porter reminded the rapper that he had agreed to pour a bucket of ice over his head to raise awareness and funds for ALS research."

"I knew this **** was coming, but—tonight?" Eminem asked. Then he gave in and let Rihanna dump ice cold water on his head. The "rap god" returned the favor, nominating Ri-Ri to get an ice bucket of her own.  "Detroit, what you think?" she reportedly asked the audience. "Should I do it? I'm from the islands; I don't do this ice ****! This ice **** doesn't work for me."

And then it did apparently work for her.

This happened on the final night of the pair's stop in Detroit. On Friday, 987 AMP Radio reported that during their 50-song set, the crowd of nearly 45,000 (which reportedly included fellow Detroit legends Bob Seger and Kid Rock) was on its feet from the very beginning and never wavered.

"After Em performed a medley of his early "under the influence" days ("My Name Is," "The Real Slim Shady" and "Without Me"), Rihanna returned to sing breathtaking versions of  "We Found Love" and "Diamonds," and somehow, it all seemed cohesive," AMP reported.
