ALLEN PARK (CBS DETROIT) - Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt recently signed a six-year, $100 million contract. Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will soon be signing a hefty new deal of his own - in Detroit or elsewhere.

Suh said he had not looked at the specifics of Watt's contract but said Watt deserves whatever money he gets. As far as what impact Suh expects Watt's deal to have on negotiations between Suh's agent and various NFL teams, Suh revealed nothing.

In a manner consistent with how he has deflected previous contract questions, Suh gave a strange answer when asked if he would like a bigger deal than Watt.

"I have no clue," Suh said. "It's not up to me. Talk to my agent."

As far as whether Watt's contract would be used as a benchmark in Suh's contract talks, Suh again refused to acknowledge any knowledge on his part.

"That's their decision if they choose to - not mine," Suh said.

Suh also dodged a question about whether he believes he is the best defensive player in the game. Instead, Suh talked only about helping the team win games. He even said it does not matter if he finishes the season with five, eight or 10 sacks while other players get 20.

"Don't care about numbers," Suh said. "If we're winning, that's all that matters.

"I don't necessarily know if I have goals other than winning and going to the playoffs and having this defensive line be an exceptional one, one amongst the top five, in all the categories we can," Suh added. "We obviously love to get after the quarterback and make big plays, game-changing plays, so sacks without question are huge in our room, but overall just being one of the groups that leads this team, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and I obviously want to be a part of that as well."

Suh recorded 10 sacks in his rookie season, four in 2011, eight in 2012 and five and a half in 2013. With the Lions under the leadership of a new defensive coordinator in Teryl Austin, Suh will be working in a different system. He downplayed any differences, essentially saying he can play in any scheme.

"I feel like I'm a player that can fit into any particular defense - put me in position, tell me what you need to do, and I can get it done for you," Suh said. "I can adjust and adapt."
