Police Seeking Tips In Connection With Hit And Run Which Killed 60-Year-Old

CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Clinton Township police don't have a lot of information to go on after a hit and run accident killed a 60-year-old man. They are looking for the person driving a white vehicle with front end damage.

The driver killed Steven Smarsh as he walked on north-bound Garfield Road near 15 Mile road.

Lieutenant Anthony Greene is asking witnesses to come forward.

"If any has maybe seen their neighbor's car has some damage or we are asking family members who see damage done on a car they haven't seen before just to contact the police department," said Greene.

"We've got some car parts and we are working with (car) dealers and manufacturers to determine through the numbering system on the ...parts to give us a year, but at this time I really don't have a make or a model, it's early in the investigation," he added.

Greene says the storm system had passed through ... but the roadways were still wet at the time of the accident.

If you have any information about this incident please call Clinton Township police at (586) 493-7900.
