New On CBS Primetime, 'Madam Secretary'

"Madam Secretary" follows Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (played by Téa Leoni) as she drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol while negotiating global and domestic issues; at the White House and at home.

A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returns to public life at the request of the President following the suspicious death of her predecessor. She is immediately faced with a whirlwind of intense political challenges, including navigating State Department obstacles and an international hostage situation.

"I think I was looking at my own mother and looking at my grandmother and looking at friends who are trying to balance such incredibly rich, demanding lives," Leoni says of portraying the role of Secretary of State.

"Madam Secretary" also stars Tim Daly as Henry McCord, Bebe Neuwirth as Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver, Zeljko Ivanek as the President's Chief of Staff Russell Jackson, Geoffrey Arend as speech writer Matt Mahoney, Patina Miller as press coordinator Daisy Grant and Erich Bergen as McCord's charming assistant Blake Moran.

CBS will broadcast the series premiere of "Madam Secretary" on Sunday, September 21 at 8:30pm ET/8pm PT and again at 10:30pm ET/10pm PT.
