Ray Rice's Wife Janay Blames Media On Instagram For Her Man's Troubles

I learned my lesson early: I must have been 8 years old and my sister was annoying me more than anything so I punched her in her arm as hard as I could. That's when my mother yelled at me, then explained to never, ever hit a woman.

I will never forget it.

That's one lesson that now-former Baltimore Ravens Ray Rice must not have received.

Monday afternoon the news came out Rice had been released by the Ravens and the NFL had suspended him indefinitely for knocking out his wife after video surfaced showing the awful act.

The video is about as graphic and horrible as you could imagine. If you haven't seen the video, click the link above but for fair warning note that it's very disturbing.

Rice in the preseason was cheered by the Baltimore faithful when he appeared on the field in practice as if nothing had happened. I wonder if those fans are thinking anything different now?

The Ravens Chris Canty was interviewed about the Rice situation and to me he really made some good points.

According to a Baltimore Ravens SB Nation website:

"I was in shock," Canty said when he first saw the video. "My first thoughts were I don't think it's appropriate to show it on television. You have to think of the victim, Janay, in this situation. To force her to relive that physical and emotional abuse is wrong, it's absolutely wrong, and some media outlets have chosen to air it regardless of her feelings. I'm not sure if they reached out for her consent, but it's wrong."

That brings me to the victim of this entire situation, Janay Rice. She was punched out and for reasons known only to her has stood by her man's side since then. She was the one who apologized afterward, during a much-covered press conference.

This time, Rice went to Instagram after her husband was dropped from the team to again take a shot at the media for all of this...

Rice's Instagram is private but the Baltimore Sun has confirmed the statement was intended to be public.  Here is what she had to say:

"I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I'm mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it's reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don't you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you've succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!"

She is right it's their life and maybe some of this should be dealt with not in the national spotlight but that's not the world we live in. Personally I think it's wrong to show the video over and over but a leaked photo of a celebrity hits the internet than everyone is getting sued. Doesn't make much sense to me but I guess I won't always understand everything.

Do you agree with Rice that the media is to blame?
