Big Brother Season 16 Episode 38 Recap: Caleb's Weakness Of Loyalty

Well somebody got "Judy Chopped," and that was Beast Mode Cowboy. Caleb Reynolds the 26-year-old Adventure Hunting Guide from Hopkinsville, KY was evicted by his "Apadre," Cody and it was his loyalty that was his ultimate downfall. Unless there is some awakening from Cody or Victoria it's safe to say Derrick will be heading to the finale. But the question remains will it be Cody or Victoria who will take him or will he make it to the finale on his own accord and ultimately sending one of his "floater" friends to jury. However I digress, let's recap last night's episode.

Frankie Is Gone & Derrick is HOH

No surprise that hours before eviction, the person who was getting the boot was told the unfortunate news. However in this case Frankie straight up asked Derrick if he had a shot at staying and Derrick with "croc" emotions sad the decision was final. Frankie did try to convince his alliance one last time, but it was a little too late. Frankie's ego got the best of him but also showed the weakness of both Caleb and Cody. I'm surprised that none of these guys have put blame on Derrick. Derrick on his hand has masterfully pushed the blame on others. With his skills as an undercover cop, it was kind of bound to happen. I just wish Jack from season 4 had played the game like Derrick. I'm digressing again, but for true Big Brother Super Fans, you know what I'm talking about.

After Derrick, won another HOH, it guaranteed himself a spot in the Final Three. Meanwhile Cody was beating himself up for missing the last question, giving his fellow "The Hitmen," Derrick a chance to win and then ultimately losing the tiebreaker question. Cody is still the one I predict to be a possible dark horse in winning this game. Ultimately though his loyalty to Derrick will be his biggest downfall. I'm not surprised that all three houseguests feel Derrick has their back; it's even more surprising the other three didn't talk about how they feel safe with the person in power. But it's Derrick's influence and again his undercover cop skills that have helped him through out the game. With Derrick's nominations it was a no brainer that he'd put up Caleb & Victoria. Though Derrick wouldn't be the one casting the sole vote it would be who ever wins the POV and wasn't nominated that has that power.

Cody Wins POV

It's funny how Cody likes to repeat himself, Tuesday, he said POV then was the most important, now he goes and says last night's was the most important. Cody makes me laugh at how intense each competition is and how each is the most important. Luckily for Derrick the POV competition would be an easy one throw, since none of the other houseguests could see what the others were doing. Meanwhile Caleb & Victoria were going into the competition with the goal of winning the POV.

The POV was another Big Brother classic, a memory competition. It also was another way to promote another new fall CBS show. This time it was Stalker that premieres Wednesday, October 1st. The goal was to correctly put each houseguest in the corresponding area answering specific fact that had happened in the game. Derrick would seem the obvious winner for this since he does this kind of thing outside the house. Derrick said it best, he wasn't in it to win a veto but to win the $500k for his family. The loyalty that was heard from the other three houseguest that Derrick has their back is quite laughable. The only "back" they should have is their own because again only one person wins the $500k. Runner up only gets $50k and third place is $0. No surprise that Victoria wasn't doing well in this competition, the high-pressure situation gave Beast Mode Cowboy Caleb no help at all trying to remember information from the season, which gave Cody all the more gusto to win POV. Besides Caleb and Frankie, Cody has proven himself as a competitor in the competitions and he also secured his spot in the final three with his POV win.

Loyalty Sent Caleb to Jury

With Cody's win of POV he held the power to evict either Victoria or Caleb. Caleb was under the assumption that his "Apadres," would be going to the final three, however that wasn't the case as Cody voted to send Caleb to jury. It was funny that before Caleb's eviction and before the POV, there was a segment with Caleb's family. His own family said his biggest downfall would be his loyalty. Which is what sent him to jury, but also for the fact that Caleb is way too much of a competitive threat for Cody or Derrick to go up against in the final two HOH competitions. Especially since Caleb has proven to be not only a physical threat but also someone who can do well in a mental competition. Cody's eviction speech to Caleb was interesting, he informed Caleb about his final two deals with Derrick, but also an alliance he and Derrick had formed called "The Hitmen." This is a smart game move on his part but also gave the jury more reason as to why Derrick should win the game over him.

For Caleb it was clear he was blindsided and though he was evicted left with his head held high but his spirits down. At least he got cheers from exiting because he was scared of getting booed. I bet he was hoping maybe Amber would be there greeting him or the Miss America contestants or some other crazy idea that may have formed in his head. One thing is for sure though, Caleb was a loyal guy but it was his own loyalty that sent him out of the Big Brother house and into jury. I can't wait to see the jury react to seeing both Frankie and Caleb joining them. But in one week we will know who is the winner of Big Brother Season 16!

My Ranking Of The Final Three

  1. Derrick - He'll be $550k richer if he continues to win and manipulate the other two. His only possible demise if either Cody or Victoria get their heads out of Derrick's manipulation and realize neither of them have a shot at winning the $500k. Team America and his own game have served him well, so it's only fitting that he should win this season, but there is still a week left in this house and anything can happen.
  2. Cody – I still consider Cody a Dark horse, but really Derrick this entire game has carried him. Yes, Cody may have won competitions but his social game lacked and his influence on houseguests isn't as strong as Derrick's. If Cody was smart he'd take Victoria or Derrick, ensuring he'd win the game. Let's face it if he were to take Derrick to the final two, Cody's just signing himself for second place.
  3. Victoria - Floater made final three, just like many floaters before her from seasons' past. If she by some miracle wins the final HOH and takes Cody over Derrick, she deserves to win the game. It would be the ultimate move and her only move she would make in this game that could seal her victory. But that's being way too optimistic, however we can hope for maybe Victoria to win.

My Prediction for HOH Competition Part One

So with the two part HOH competitions, the first will obviously be an endurance competition. So out of the final three, it's clear Cody will win this. Derrick feels confident enough to win over Victoria in the memory competition during the second part. However Victoria could somehow get an edge in this endurance. But again that's hoping for a little too much. "The Hitmen" are clearly running this finale so it won't be surprise that Victoria will just have to hope that "The Hitmen," turn on each other and take her to the finale. Which would be smart for either Cody or Derrick to do, ensuring a landslide victory.

Tune in on a special night this week, Friday at 8pm on CBS Detroit 62 as we see the first part of the final HOH competition take place. Also we'll most likely see some flashback footage from the season and hopefully some never before seen clips. I'm a little bummed we don't see who the final two will be, but next Wednesday is going to be a big night for Reality TV. It's the premiere of Survivor that happens before the live Season Finale of Big Brother 16, which will be a special 90-minute episode! It's going to be an exciting week ahead! Stay tuned!
