DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks have signed free agent forward Charlie Villanueva, who spent the past five years with Detroit.

The signing announced Tuesday gives the Mavericks 19 players on their roster with training camp opening next Tuesday. Villanueva had his best season in 2008-09, when he averaged 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds in his final season with Milwaukee.

The 30-year-old Villanueva’s scoring average has dropped every year since 2009, and it’s been three seasons since his scoring average was in double figures.

He won an NCAA title at Connecticut and a year later was the seventh pick of the draft by Toronto in 2005.
