DETROIT (AP) – Detroit police say a 38-year-old man got in an argument with a woman at a hall, then pulled a gun and fatally shot her in the head before opening fire on a crowd of people.

Police say the dead woman was 27 years old. They tell WDIV-TV that the gunman wounded three women ages 23, 32 and 41 and two men ages 28 and 30.

Police say the gunman tried to walk away from the scene, but officers arrested him and confiscated the gun.

The names of the suspect and the dead woman weren’t immediately released.
