Lions Defense Played Good Enough To Win. What Went Wrong?

Sunday was another frustrating day to be a Lions fan, as they fell to the Bills 17-14. Alex Henery went 0-3, including what likely would have been a game winning 50 yarder with 21 seconds to go in the game. Instead, Bills' kicker Dan Carpenter got to be the hero for his team, going 3-4 and hitting from 58 yards to win the game.

Not that kicking was the only issue, as the offense as a whole did not perform well. The Lions were 1-11 on third down. They gave up the ball twice. Matthew Stafford was sacked six times. I could keep going, but what's the point?

The defense played good enough to win, but there were still issues.

Former Lions head coach and current Bills D coordinator Jim Schwartz was carried off the field on the shoulders of his players after the game.

Basically…same old Lions.

You know the same types of things we've been dealing with as Lions fans for the last how many years? And yet for some reason, you're still getting angry about it. But I gotta ask…WHY?
That's a serious question by the way. As previously stated, we've been dealing with these types of things for years -- decades even. You've all heard the callers while listening to The Ticket. They usually start something like this "I've been a Lions fan since…" Just go ahead and insert any year you want and the story is the same.

So why are you allowing yourself to still be angered by this? You know how I reacted as a Lions fan while following the end of the game on Twitter in the Tigers Press Box…I laughed my a** off. At this point it's comical. It's like a game to see how absurd the reason can be that they lost.

Others around me told me it wasn't funny, saying this is a serious problem. And yet there I was, almost falling out of my chair. I mean honestly, the things that go wrong for this franchise are a satire of Mel Brooks proportions. At times, this team is Spinal Tap. Except instead of not being able to find the stage yesterday, they couldn't find the end zone or the center of the uprights.

Laughing is really the only good option anymore; The other one is to let this team turn you into an angry bitter person that no one wants to be around every Sunday from September to December.

I refuse to let my fandom for this team ruin my mood, especially when they have such epic breakdowns like today. I suggest you do the same. Be happy when they win. Be sad when they lose a tough close game. But never get angry when they screw the pooch. I assure you there are better things in your life to get stressed and angry about.
