Man Arrested For Driving Drunk On Lawn Mower

ANTWERP TWP. (WWJ/AP) - A 36-year-old Michigan man has been arrested for driving drunk along a dark road on a lawn mower.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office said two deputies were on patrol about 9 p.m. Friday when they saw the mower on County Road 657 in Antwerp Township.

Flashlights were attached to the front of the mower, but there were no lights or reflective materials on the back. The driver also was pulling a home-made trailer.

The deputies stopped the mower and discovered that the Lawton man was "highly intoxicated." He was jailed for operating a vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol.

The suspects name is being withheld pending his arraignment. According to reports, this is his third such offense.
