Gordie Howe Said To Be Recovering And In Good Spirits After Suffering Stroke
DETROIT (WWJ) - Eighty-six-year old hockey legend Gordie Howe suffered a serious stroke Sunday at a hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Greg Krupa of the Detroit News told ESPN that Howe has improved.
"He's out of the hospital already resting, and his daughter Kathy is home - but he has weakness throughout his right side, difficulty speaking - and the family is making him comfortable. My sense was, that this is not necessarily life threatening right now," said Krupa.
"Well, they really wanted everyone to know that he is in good spirits ... I don't think Gordie Howe is in pain or anything like that ... surrounded by his, really loving family. Really one of the great success stories of Gordie Howe is this amazing family he's got."
His son, Dr. Murray Howe, told The Detroit News his dad suffered the stroke early Sunday morning in Lubbock, Texas...was released from the hospital and is now staying with his daughter, Kathy.
Howe has suffered a number of health set backs in recent years.
His wife, Colleen, died in 2009.
