CBS DETROIT - When the Detroit Lions entered the bye week, plenty of players had been suffering from injuries. For their game in London two weeks ago, the Lions were missing wide receiver Calvin Johnson, running back Reggie Bush and tight ends Brandon Pettigrew, Joe Fauria and Eric Ebron, among others.

As a result, tight end Jordan Thompson had been promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Various moves resulting from other injuries on the team also allowed the Lions to bring back Couplin.

With the team getting healthy, however, both Thompson and Couplin have been released. Rookie linebacker Kyle Van Noy is coming off short-term injured reserve and may play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, while the release of Thompson suggests at least one of the tight end trio is expected to be in action Sunday.

At least one more transaction may be coming soon. Defensive tackle Nick Fairley suffered a knee sprain in London and is expected to miss at least a month, and defensive tackle C.J. Mosley was suspended two weeks after reportedly being caught with marijuana in London. Between Mosley's status uncertain and Fairley definitely out for a while, the Lions are expected to sign a defensive tackle.
