'The Onion' Pokes Fun At Michigan Football As Mediocre, Irrelevant

Brady Hoke was relieved as the head coach at the University of Michigan on Tuesday afternoon.

This is not your father's Michigan anymore. They aren't relevant on the national level anymore and quite frankly their basketball team is the attraction, and not the football team these days.

Things have gotten so bad for the program that The Onion has now thrown in its opinion on the situation.

The satiric news story, posted Wednesday, is titled: "Michigan Fans Thankful Program No Longer Relevant Enough To Be Humiliated On National Stage."

Some of the better snippets are:

"Reached for comment, members of the Michigan athletic department told reporters they are equally thankful the program's fall from prominence has drastically lessened the pressure to get the next coaching hire right."

"At this point, we're so far removed from the national picture that we're almost immune to being on the receiving end of a huge blowout during a major bowl game."
