The morning started at the baseball Winter Meetings with reports that the Tigers have acquired Yoenis Cespedis from the Red Sox for Rick Porcello.

The Tigers' first announcement of the morning was about the trade for pitcher Alfredo Simon from the Cincinnati Reds.

The Tigers have acquired pitcher Simon from the Reds for Shortstop Eugenio Suarez and pitcher Jonathon Crawford.

Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski told reporters all week that he liked the team's starting rotation and the team was not in the market for starting pitching.  Well that obviously changed.  "Well this actually came together pretty quickly," Dombrowski said about the deal.  Reds GM Walt Jocketty then joked that the deal was made in the hallway.

Despite the team not announcing the Porcello for Cespedes trade, Dombrowski gave plenty of hints that there was another move on the horizon.  "We proceeded more with this when we had the opportunity to do something else but we weren't going to do something else unless we could get a starting pitcher which we said all along," Dombrowski said.

The Detroit GM also talked about the team's starting rotation as having 6 pitchers.

"In fact if you count the numbers as we sit here this moment, we have 6 starters," he said, adding, however, "I'm not sure how long that will last."

Check out the video for what Dombrowski likes about his new pitcher and don't miss the free advice he gave to Jocketty when the Reds GM answered a call in the middle of the presser.
