NOVI (WWJ) — Forget Black Friday — Super Saturday seems to be taking over as the busiest shopping day of the year. One shopper, Kaitlin from Fraser, called Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi “ground zero.”

“It’s a mad house. There’s lots of little kids dressed up in their Christmas outfits to see Santa,” Kaitlin said. “The line was kind of long, I’m glad I don’t have kids, so I didn’t have to stand in line. It looked hectic, but it looks like they’re having fun.”

Finding that perfect holiday gift was almost as tough as finding a space to park as last-minute shoppers flooded to popular shopping center.

Many local shoppers were out searching for last-minute gifts on the final Saturday before Christmas, like Lanzo of West Bloomfield.

“I don’t do a lot of Christmas shopping anymore, my kids are a lot older now,” Lanzo said. “It’s also for my wife’s birthday too, so I’m doing some Christmas shopping and some birthday shopping.”
